We are a group of volunteers dedicated to enriching the lives of others by harnessing the proven power of flowers to lift spirits and promote healing. Our recipients are people who are lonely, isolated, ill, or simply going through a rough patch.
We do this by re-newing and re-freshing gently used flowers recycled from weddings, banquets, business conferences, memorial services, etc.—any event where flowers are often left behind or tossed in the trash while they are still fresh. We also receive donations from flower wholesalers.

Just because recipients are getting these bouquets free doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to have them done well.
Spreading the smiles around
Since 2009, The Power of Flowers has rescued thousands of pieces otherwise destined for the dumpster and delivered them—remade over 50,000 individual arrangements—to shut-ins and others in need of a lift.
We put a lot of thought and effort into each bouquet.
Our arrangements can be found everywhere from bedsides in nursing homes to coffee tables of Meals on Wheels clients, from the hospital rooms of critically ill children and disabled veterans to the rooms of homeless mothers and from community meal sites to the desks of under-appreciated helpers.
A little help from our friends
Volunteers have logged thousands of hours a year converting large arrangements into individual ones since the project’s inception in February of 2009.
The brainchild of former marketing professional turned floral designer Joyce Bellefeuille, the Power of Flowers Project was established with a small local grant and enormous enthusiasm in 2009. Belle Feuille Floral Design has been sponsoring the program which has incorporated as a 501(c)3 charitable organization.
Here’s how it works:
- Donated flowers are picked up by volunteers
- The flowers are refreshed, renewed and made into smaller floral designs
- Cards are included that acknowledge the donor (if requested)
- These flowers are then personally delivered to people that need a smile
A simple phone call sets the process in motion. Once notified of a donation, Project volunteers pick the arrangements up within hours of the event, refresh and arrange the flowers, and deliver them, usually within 24 hours.
